A Celebration of MET's First 20 Years

Fans of MetArt, and the wider genre of glamour erotica, will love this book. It’s a 287-page celebration of MET’s first 20 years, featuring 101 of the site’s best and brightest women. A grand tool for savoring many models we know and love, revisiting some past favorites, and rediscovering some wonders from the past that might otherwise have been forgotten. What really makes this book noteworthy is how utterly gorgeous the photos look. What a difference, seeing these shots in print. Every photo jumps off the page with rich detail, vivid colors, and high contrast. They really are mind boggling. It’s quite a reminder of how backlit computer monitors fail to do these photos justice. Every shot in the book is also available digitally on MetArt; every one of them looks better in the book version. The book itself is hardcover, and a bit on the small side as coffee table books go, 10-1/2" by 8-1/2". That’s probably by design, now that I think about it, because in a stack of coffee table books, it would need to be at or near the top. Very clever. The models are presented alphabetically, from A (Adrianna V) to Z (Zsanett Tormay). Each model is given at least a two-page spread, and many are given four. There’s a solid mix of vintage and recent models, many of whom are still active, shot by a variety of MET’s best known photographers. Some have appeared on MET over 100 times, others far fewer, and all feel worthy of inclusion in this volume. Of course, as with any endeavor like this, there will be some debate over who is included and who is not. I was a little disappointed that a couple of my favorites don’t appear in the book, but pleasantly surprised about some others who did. If I had to nitpick anything, it would be that, well, from time to time, you’re reminded that you’re reading a book. There are a number of two-page single-photo spreads that are interrupted by the page crease created by the binding. It doesn’t happen often, but it happens. It’s a small price to pay for the incredible photo quality. There’s also a handy index at the end, with each model’s age, eye color, vital stats, and country of origin. A nice touch to see the info laid out the way it is. All in all, this is a wonderful way to celebrate MET’s vast collection of beautiful women amassed over their first two decades, and a reminder that there are many more wonders to come. A very highly recommended book.
